A phone line has Most low voltage lighting uses 12v dc. You cant even feel that no matter how you hold the wires. 0.5v dc is nothing. What are use measuring with. I have a fluke mulitmeter, and i get nothing.But mine auto switches from ac/dc.

Try putting the wires against your tongue, a 9v battery will make your tongue 'buzz', it's not the voltage but the current.

On second thoughts, DON"T try this..........(don't want someone suing me cos I told them to suck the wires)
