We mix water and electricity and stick our hands in it. It appears to be a dangerous hobby. Yet, I heard of no accidents yet. Is the equipment that safe?
Did somebody have a problem ?
Do you submerge any of your non/submergible heaters, filters, lights?

I received a decent strength e-shock from the light switch of one of my second-hand tanks. The plastic was cracked and I grabbed the naked wire. But it was a "dry" one.
Occasionally I submerge several of my non-submergible heaters...

i've been shocked many times. i used to work in a lfs and the equipment was S#$%^&. i got shocked at least once a day. another time my caiman broke the heater in the tank. we were both electricuted. fortunately the caiman was ok.

Howdy,

I've never had any problems, no accidents, no blown fuse. Call me lucky :D

sometimes in the fish lab I work in, current will start "leaking" from equipment. No strong jolts yet, though.

I once dropped in my lighting in the tank by accident when taking off the hood to the aquarium. It was not on at the time, so I dried it off and it workied fine along with no shocks.

iI was shocked last month. I was pluggin in my tank and ZAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPP. man it was a good one. My friend heard it on the other side of the room. It was like 3sec long but felt like a min. lol.

i have been shocked countless times
and i see no stopping either

Ive been shocked by cheapo made in china submersible pumps before, just a tingly feeling but nothing serious. You can buy those grounding probes so that if the current does leak it doesnt travel through you or use more reliable brands of equipment.
