Thanks stonefish, so you kept them in a community tank, and they seem to be decently aggressive, I am thinking about doing a species only tank with just this fish. Do they have a reasonable personality?

Yeah I had it in a predatory tank with other aggressive fish and it held its own to say the least. If you have the tank why not do a species only tank but otherwise just keep an eye on it and see how it interacts with your other fish. Every fish has its own personality the one you get may be mellow or psychotic. You just have to wait and see. But it will eat anything it can get in its mouth and it can open its mouth pretty wide. Good luck.

I had him eat today, got him yesterday so I was rather happy about it. He ate some frozen krill and rather heartily i might add! He also has a great personality, his tank is in my bathroom and when I am in there he will swim to whatever end of 55 is closest to where I am standing. He only moves when I look away and freezes when he notices me looking at him. I call him a he because he's too damn ugly to be a female!

Edit: Do you think that this guy could co exist with a cichlid of equal size or around that size? He is about 7-8" not the 12" that the seller claimed. I didnt see any real teeth so I dont think he would try to bite out chunks.

I had a marbled sleeper "goby" for a couple years that got up to only like 6-7" from like 4-5". The pic looks like a marbled sleeper, but the scientific name you gave is a spotted sleeper "goby". Never got it to eat pellets, but it ate pretty much anything alilve or dead and meaty.

It was very peaceful but pretty shy. Not the fastest fish out there for sure, but good ambush predator w/ a relatively huge mouth. I sold it to a friend that still has it. They're pretty common around here at smaller sizes, but I've only seen a couple over 12" in the last few years.

Yeah, I dont think that the picture or the scientific name they gave is correct. One is off, because the fish has a tan top like the "water cow" and lacks the pattern in the fish pictured.

Yeah, thats it precisely. So, they had the name right, just the wrong picture!

When I fed him last night he was hitting the krill as soon as it hit the water!

sweet! my marbled would never hit anything on the surface

kickin it in a 55 by itself right now, I am thinking about moving it to one of the larger tanks with other fish though!
