Why do members of MFK insist on using "creative" Abbreviations to describe their fish? As if their scientific names, latin names and common names were not confusing enough. What do all these abbreviations mean? The average "lay" fishkeeper would be hard pressed to follow or participate in a tread. Is there an "elitest" inner group of MFK members who wish to keep their secrets safe or their communications private? Many times I have been frustrated while reading treads where the abbreviations and ACRONYMS were used and their meaning were either unkown to me or not immediately availiable.
Saving time would be the best excuse for writting in shortform. However, its not in the spirit of sharing, especially in a forum setting. The text should be instantly reconizable to everyone!

I think fish-related abbreviations and acroynyms are commonplace on other fish forums and not just MFK. It's so much easier to type "RTC" instead of "red-tail catfish" or "ATF" rather than "African tiger fish." Or "FOWLR" instead of "fish only with live rock," for that matter. :)
