just picked 1 up and i have heard you can put neon tetras in with pirahna, is this true? im asking cause i read the tank mate post and it says with big pirahna but this elong i have is about 4 inches, not big at all

Piranha is illegal at your location......

to your question: if you want the neon tetras to live, take them out of the piranha tank. I have 20 neons in with an 1" serra and there are already 3-4 death after one day. I use those as feeders so I was expecting the out come.

yea you can put tetras in there. cheap n a good treat. sometimes may last a while too cause theyre really fast.

Serrasalmus Elongatus is the fastest piranha out there...

Howdy,

Elongs are amongst the fastest hunters. Awesome fish, need more room than any other P for swimming and prefer strong current, from what I've read. You'll have trouble co-habitating them with tetras. No need to even try at a size less than 8''. That's when my pirayas started ignoring small livebearer fry ...

Your fish needs to be more comfortable with his new environment before it will even want to eat. One day is super short for a fish to get comfortable. All you can do is wait and make sure its water is flawless. When I had my elongatus it took him about 7-8 days before it ate.

ok thanks. ya my water is flawless, i have a nice current going. i just wasnt sure about the heat. i got it at a steady 82? is that about right
