hey everyone here in colorado we are getting a pounding with snow and we lost our power. I went and bought a generator form a local farm/ranch store its 3400watt, 60 hz. My problem is I pluged in one tanks and my filstar xp3 was making all kinds of noise. I read here that the sine waves might be wrong for magnetic motors and I was wondering what I can do about it? Aren't all filters and pumps magnetic driven. help me out here guys!!

Dont hold me to this but maybe try a HOB for survival if the xp3's are freaking out!!!;)

well the xp3's arent a big deal because on my 220 I have a wet/dry and 2 xp3's. I don't have to run the xp3's but will it hurt the magnetic motor on my sump pump for my wet/dry? I have a bunch of emporers that are all magnetic drive to.

i am not sure i never have a problem using my gen on tanks i don't have a xp3 hmmmmm not sure to be honest i think it could be becasues yuo only have a 3400 watt gen and it surges to much i use a 5500 watt with a 8000watt start up

If you are running a ton of other things and then you plug in your tank and it does that, it could be because of too much load on the generator. I know if you get a generator really working to its max most things running on it can sound awful. Just a thought.

You don't have a back up pump for your sump that isn't a mag drive? If worst comes to worst, you could just take buckets of water from the sump and dump them in the tank so that tank overflows and keeps working. You don't have to do it all the time, but every 10 mintues.

I only plugged one tank into it. It was pulling around 1000 watts. It has to be somthing else. Can I clean the electricity somehow?
