problem is I have 8 tanks ranging fro 10 gallons to 220 gallons. thats alot of screwing around. Plus I just bought a $350.00 generator

Well, you don't even have to do it that frequently, I am just offering a solution if you can't ge the generator to work. Ask chompers or Oddball, they know all about that stuff.

thanks alot everyone. All the input helps!! i will run buckets if I have to though. thanks again

Do you have a UPS laying around? Some of them have a power conditioner, and you can plug it into the generator and the equipment into it.

rallysman's tip (UPS) is what I'd suggest. Plug it in to the generator and then use the UPS output. 2 UPS units would be better. Plug them both into the gen. $40-80 at any computer store. Another option is a parallel cable on the gen. It gives double the connections and would allow more things to be hooked up. Most RVers have these. At least you don't have to run the A/C or 'fridge. You can get this at most camping places. Maybe even the farm/ranch place. Dan

How much was your gen???

thanks guys I will look into it. I paid $350.00 for it on sale from $429.00

I have had to run a generator to keep my fish alive befor :( and i have all hob filters and those ran roughly as well :irked: so it's not just the canister types but as long as u got heat and aireration your fish will survive so don't sweat the filter just keep the bubbles and heat going.lol:thumbsup:

yeah your right. I just don't want to have to re-cycle my main filter on my 220. I can get that to work though. Just my canisters aren't running.
