Please help
My beloved cichlid has some sort of growth I don’t want it to die as I have had it for a while and I really don’t want it to die
 
I am not an expert but it looks like a prolapsed anus.

Anyone ever dealt with this in a fish? I got a couple rescue fish a few weeks ago I am trying to fix up: a port acara that was severely emaciated and sunken in, with a bad case of HITH and also rainbow cichlid with no outward signs of problems that had been living in the same tank. I have them...

What else is in that tank. Looks like the fish is a little beat up.

I understand how you feel.

Prolapse is extremely hard to deal with compared to a normal disease like a fungus because it’s more like a broken arm than the flu. A lot of places recommend removal which I would advise against if you’ve never done surgery on a fish. Another option is to let it reduce on its own. Some fish have been known to live with prolapse which slowly goes down over time but it may not ever become normal. You cant do much without physical intervention and I’m nowhere near experienced enough to give advice in that realm.

Do some research on vent/cloacal prolapse.
 
Soak food with Epsom salt solution and round of kanamycin will help. May have to keep soaking the pellets permanently. Follow the link by The Morning The Morning .
