aqualifters are like 10$, that and a second overflow is cheap security and the easiest route, plus say your overflow gets clogged by food or a dead fish or whatever, the second overflow is there to save the day. and if you ever want to up your gph with a stronger pump your already setup with 2 overflows.

I would drill the tank and be done with it. Its pretty easy and you dont even need to empty the tank unless you want to drill the bottom. Drill 2 holes if you want redundancy.

thats what i wanted to do but dread the idea of doing it in my room almost as much as I dread emptying the tank to do it the right way.
