I only use water that hot, and in mass quanities, if I think there is a parasite that needs to be irradicated.

As the tomites "hatch" from the substrate, or as they are released from the white spots on the fish, they become free swimming, and they are vulnerable and only vunerable at those 2 stages, that's when the high salinity will get them, 3ppt or higher.
The spots on the fish are like shells that protect the protozoa and are unaffected by meds, salt, even heat at that stage. The substrate or dorment stage is also an invulnerable state.
That's why we need to keep the treatment going for weeks.
