I have a 110g with two jds an oscar and a convict. There all breathing hard. I recently put a canister filter on and theres no water fall or bubbles in tank because the return in underwater.. Is the water low on oxygen I just put in a air pump i dont know what else to do!!!

you need to agitate the water. if the surface of the water isnt moving there is no oxygen being put into the tank. air stone or lowing the water level so your ouput of your canister filter is above the water will help.

The air pump should help btw if you have a bubble stone on it I would take it off. it seems to me that just the straight large bubbles were more effective at getting oxygen into the tank

agreed. or raise the level of the output so its closer to the surface. also check your temp to make sure it's not too hot.

yeah you need to put some air or moving water i would get a power-head.

^This
temp is important and also Idk why Im such glass half empty type sometimes. raising the output is alot smarter then my idea. if you cant rair the output then lower the water till you figure something out

Thanks you guys there still breathing heavy.. I have an aerator in there now blowing big bubbles. yea the water on the surface wasnt moving probly running out of oxygen huh ?... So you dont need bubbles in a tank just top water movement ?

water change
HAD THE SAME THING AND THEY WHERE FINE IN A FEW MINUTES

I would do the following -

1. Do a water change asap if you think there's something serious. Takes time to oxygenate the water even if that's your main problem.
2. As suggested above, if your filter return is adjustable (e.g. a spray bar), turn it to a direction so the current would agitate the surface. If the return is not adjustable, you can either add an air stone (I'm not a big fan personally), or add an HOB filter.
3. When things settle down a bit, do a water test. There could be other things.
