EMERGENCY!!

Im shooting bubbles in the water now with a power head lol i hope they dont dieeee :(.. So if i put a powerhead and it turns the water on the top really well, do i have to put an air stone or will that areate it ?

2. As suggested above, if your filter return is adjustable (e.g. a spray bar), turn it to a direct so the current would agitate the surface. If the return is not adjustable, you can either add an air stone (I'm not a big fan personally), or add an HOB filter.
3. When things settle down a bit, do a water test. There could be other things.
^also good idea there could always be more then one problem so do a test

Not always the best idea, If your only problem is your oxygen lvl its a great idea. However if something else is is at hand changing the water can add alot of stress and worsen the problem. I would do what your doing and if it doesn't help after a while consider some other problems. although im 99.99% sure its just oxygen
 
yeah power-heads offer movement and bubbles so its a win win situation.

Is there an established filter on the tank? you said you recently added a canister filter. Just wondering your tanks not going through a mini cycle or something like that.
