emp 400 filter cartridges???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
could someone please post some good pics of the supercartridges, and the pads? i'd like to see how the pads remove.

right now i just am putting quilt batting in the media cartridges, its very cheap and works very well.

I dont have any pics but the pads remove quite easily with the carbon pads that come with the SC's. I havent tried other types of media except for the blue bonded filter pads. Though its hard getting it all the way down since I use two of the blue padding in one SC. Some of the fibers would get caught in the holes and when taking out the pads you might ripe some of the fibers off the pad. I would like to try quilt batting and filter floss and see if it has the same results as the bonded pads in getting caught. The pads come out of the top of the SC.

Recently received a used 75 gall tank that came with an Emperor 400 and a penguin 350 all the plastic bins in the back have what i believe are bio balls in them and new standard filter pads in front .
any advice on what to add to the plastic bins the bio-balls do not use all the space

The plastic bins in the back is the penguin 350? and the stadard filter pads are in the bins with the bioballs? You can use ceramic rings, more filter pads(thats what im using). If its bioballs I dont think they work as efficient in a HOB as compared to a wet/dry. A waste of media space IMO. I would go with filter pads or biomedia.
