Emp 400 problems.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
sweet, ill let it run for a couple days then.

I know right? This thing is a beast! with 2 3" O's and a 4-5" syno in a 90 (I know its a bit small but im getting a 140 after I move in Dec) how often would you think I should break it down for maintanance? every couple weeks? the guy at the LFS said every couple months, LAWL apparently he isnt as anal about keeping his tanks as pristine as I am. Suggestions?

Heck you want BB keep the 400's on there you can never have to much filtration. They are just bubbles im looking at mine a few bubbles are being made from just the water going into the tank from the filter but none of the fish care. The bubbles I have are not accumulating though so idk sometimes dechlorinators bubble but that is usually it doing its job and it ends there.

My 400 has never done that though my AC110 did for awhile. I wouldnt ditch it if I were you, I love mine and as some else said you can never have too much filtration.

I think you guys are right, with the extra surface agitation there isnt anymore foamy crap in the spillway of the 400, so yah ill probably keep it around seeing as it isnt goobering up my tank anymore.

I absolutely love my two Emp 400's I would buy 10 more if I had the dough! I don't see how it could be the filter making bubbles, I mean it's plastic with some filter pad inside. Have you dosed the tank with meds, anything at all. I've dosed tanks before with meds and the water will have lots of bubbles on the top.

Same here. Great hob filters.

Just my opinion and from use, the Emperor 400 is garbage... The water pretty much trickled out of it and I highly doubt it was 400 GPH... Could have just been that the one I had was defective but I've heard other people say it's bad too...

Wanna shoot a short video of the filter running so I could compare what mine looked like? lol

nah im with you i have one on my 55g and it is a lot slower then advertised and its noisy as hell
