yea, i was so excited about my new tank I baught everything at once and then i found some online but oh well i got a really good deal on the tank, stand, hood, and lights all new for $450.00. but yea i have larger gravel. im gonna go grab the saw now. thanks for the help, ill let you guys know how it turns out

Just so you know, even though you are excited to set things up...please be patient and allow your tank to fully cycle.

some people will argue this but i like setting it all up and then buying some feeder fish to help the cycle..

I won't bother debating the merits of either, at the end of the day you will determine the best route you want to go. Both take patience and monitoring.

Yup. Plus the monitoring you'll be doing with water. Also, regarding your Emperors, ditch the carbon media and go with some foam and floss.
