would this be a problem? like ive heard that these filters are relly noisy. i like the design of these guys. i bet these are really good, but im wondering if the filter will make too much noise for me to sleep at night? i had an aquaclear 110 and it made so much noise, it sounded like a really loud hummmmm constantly, even with the lid off. i couldnt stand it so im wondering if this will be along the same lines. note i heard from some the old emperors differ from the newer models- i would be buying a newer model. thanks

ive got an ac110 and an emp 400 running in my bedroom and the emp is much louder than an ac110, but its a trickling noise. i sleep fine with both of em running, but i had a pretty loud wet/dry i built running in my bedroom before.

Neither of my AquaClear filters make that much noise. I have a 110 and a 70 on my 55g and they are great. The only noise that I hear is the waterfall from the filter. It's quite peaceful...

I have both filters on a 75 and I'd say the emp is a lil louder. I've always had at least one tank in my bedroom so that kind of stuff never really bothers me. if you give it time you'll get used to it, or just move the tank out of you bedroom.

If you want silence or near silence, get a canister filter not a HOB, any HOB will make noise when the water level is slightly low.

Yeah I agree with that. Cannister over hob for quiet that is certain. But you can always go HOB but if you dont like the trickle noise, you will have to be vigilant on keeping the water level up.

I have a 72g with 2 emperor 400's and a 8" airstone. I'm used to it, but I didn't think it was loud to start with. It's actually relaxing and drowns out any outside noise that may come thru thin walls.

I have a magnum 300 canister on a 29 in my office and its silent. Only pain with canisters is if there is any blockage you get a squeak that will drive you nuts.

raise the water leve with a HOB then you won't get much nosie at all.

i have an emp and b.c. the spray bar its louder... but it does a nice job... if ur looking for quite... canister is the way to go... but make it a good one or you might have problems ( ehiem or fluval)
