Emperor 400 loud??

Can somebody give me the lowdown on why these filters are so highly praised??

I have both, and the best I can say is it is like a game of "Follow the Leader". It's like in High School when everyone would look to the popular kids in order to decide what to wear. Penguins and Emperors were once the rage and now AC's are the cool brand, though nothing has really changed in either filter.

Ive always used the penguins with much sucess, but it seems the aquaclear is a favorite round these parts. Can somebody give me the lowdown on why these filters are so highly praised??

If you have sugar grain sand and don't want a loud filter then go with AC110. If you have larger grain gravels then go with Emperor400. One piece construction(emp400) vs two piece contruction(AC110). I prefer the Emperor over the AC because I like the idea of one piece construction. The chance of leaking is unlikely.
