emperor 400 media baskets?

I put biomax into mine, you can fit a bag in each of them. When you need to remove any meds you can put charcoal in it.
You can put carbon and/or ammonia chips in them. I hardly ever use the baskets and just use the space for extra media. I have used homemade filter pads, scrubbies, bio max rings, etc.
I used to be a fan or carbon and ammonia chips, but now wonder if they are worth the trouble considering their short lifespan.

You never have to replace matrix or biomax. Its a place for bacterial growth.
Don;t rinse it under your tap water and don't rinse the biowheel under tap water.
Both the biowheel and seachem matrix are spots for bacterial growth. You don;t replace them or water them under teh tap

ooo sweet =).. thanks for your help.. its that easy huh. just fill it and never touch it again =) good stuff..
Once in awhile you will prob have to clean them because they will get debris etc built up especially being in those types of baskets it will cause you water flow to slow down. When I clean mine I just dump them in a bucket of tank water when I'm doing a WC and then just pick them back out and put back in the baskets after cleaning the baskets off when I run under tap water just the baskets not the media.
