emperor 400 media baskets?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Normally I'll say bio-media like substrate-pro or matrix. But since the biowheel is suppose to growth a ton of BB because of its wet/dry feature, I'll focus more on mechanical and chemical.

what are some good brands for mechanical and chemical?

Mechanical - Basically any of those white filter floss, don't get any of these pre-filter rings.

Chemical - depending on your application

Odour/Colour - Seachem Matrix Carbon

High pH - Eheim Torf to lower down pH, will give the slight yellow tone to the water that you may or may not like

Clarity - Seachem Purigen

I would also place some bio in the baskets.
Just in case of a power shortage and the wheel drys out, killing all the bacteria on it,
there would still be some submerged in the baskets.

Biological - Seachem Matrix > Eheim Substrate pro > Fluval Biomax
