Emperor 400 or Aquaclear 110?

Emperor 400 has a better set up for the over powered pothos plants.

AC101...........I have owner this filter for more than 10 years.................I have used this series on medium to large tanks............Ip have also used this series on fry tanks.............The largest of the series uauslly cost between $60 and $80.................
I have 110 in my kids bedroom and its really quiet I keep the lid off too because there was a small vibration also like another member suggested keep the water level high and you shouldn't hear much
Same here. I always try and adjust the hood of the ac110. I have owned the Emperor 400 and when the motor was giving out it made a very loud sound which was annoying. I would go with the ac110.

Owned and used many of both. I strictly run AC's now. I have 8 110's on my two 90 gallon and two 75 gallon tanks. I also have two AC70's on my 45 bowfront. I liked the Emperors but the media is a pain in the butt. I hate buying new filter floss/cartridges and with the AC's all you do is pull the sponge and rinse in a bucket of tank water and put it back. It doesn't get any easier than that.
If you're getting it for a 100 gal plus tank, I would get the emperor because it has better surface agitation. I would not rely on these for filtration too much on large tanks and in the long run, I find canisters are definitely the better option.
