EMPEROR 400 OR AQUACLEAR 110?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Aquaclear 110, although ive never had the other... but u cant beat 39.99 for the 110 with a Petsmart price match!

Get two AC110's for 79.98 with the price matching - They are originally 79.99$ each, so you'll still save a penny haha

3 ac110s on your 125 or 2 with a large canister

depends on what the type fish and tank set up is.

It's generally hard to beat the workhorse, and that's what AC's are. Strong, dependable, easy to clean.

I have used both of these filters. They each have their pros and their cons and are both great filters IMO. Out of the two though, I would probably go with the AC. The AC's just seem to have a bit mor power to them, and are a lot better as far as mechanicle filtration goes. They are also, like somebody else mentioned, they are easier to clean. They also don't have spray bars that can get clogged.

If it's a HOB, it's a Hagen Aqua Clear!
The only HOB I will ever use :headbang2

I use 200's, 300's & 500's on various tanks, my AC110's are modified with bio-wheels... See my thread on installing this mod.

Why I prefer the AC110...

Reliable, I've had the same AC's for years now, changed a couple impellors due to FOD... Never had a problem related directly to the AC.
Always restarts automatically after powering off.

Quiet, virtually no audible pump noise.
Some outflow splash/tinkle depending on water level*.

Versatile/media volume, you can use any media you can fit in the spacious media chamber, mech, bio, chem... Bag it, cram it, float it... Anything, anyway and lots of it.

Powerful/higher GPH, moves more water than Marineland HOB's, less drop in flow due to media impediment.

Maintenance, very easy to maintain.

Cost... Initial purchase and annual outlay for medias, generally cost less than Marineland, replacement stock medias less costly too.

*But I like that, some people pay $100's for fancy schmancy indoor water falls to get that effect :nilly:

:iagree: I am using both and I will say this, I like the Bio Wheel, but the AC is so much easier to clean.....

From now on, nothing but AC for the Fat Guy!!!
