Emperor 400 tip?

Does anyone have a tip on saving or reusing the emperor filters?

I was told to stuff cotton batting in the media containers....

I got a tip on the Cichlid Forum for 'supercharging' some filters and did on my emperors. It seems to work really well. If you go there look at the library section for articles or I can post pics of how I did it.

You can easily rinse the cartidges acouple times, before there useless.

I buy that bulk, blue filter batting and trim it to size. I rinse it out in water change water several times before replacing it. I do not use charcoal.

what I do is put filter floss in the gray cartigdes, and I put them in the back of the filter, and put the blue ones in the front, this way the filter floss will catch everything that is big, and the blue ones will last a little longer, then I just rinse them in cold water every 2 weeks, just to get the fine crap out of them...
