emperor cichlids???

so my buddy came back from luch today and had 2 new cichlids for the office tank, he came in said hey man i got 2 emperor cichlids!! i told him i hope they arent really emperors cause they will get to big for our tank...please tell me that these are not emps....

That's a Red empress (hap), aka Protomelas taeniolatus, not to be confused with an Emperor cichlid, Aulonocara nyassae. The red empress only grows to about 10 ", whereas the Emperor cichlid grows huge in the wild!!
 
not trying to be an a hole but the true emperor cichlid is boulengerochromis microlepis :naughty:
 
Yes, you're right Mike, the true Emperor is the boulengerochromis microlepis...to much on my brain. lol
 
okay good...thanks guys!! my friend must have heard wrong...i scolded him for buying fish that get to big for us to house properly..lol
