Ok guys, in 2-3 weeks or so, my 125 gallon should be cycled. Of course it is empty. The one fish that I know for sure that I want is a oscar. Now the other fish I was thinking of are a red jewel, a blue acara(if I can find one) and a severem? Those 3 fish are not set in stone, just what I thought would be nice. I have a Cascade 1500 for filtration, and plan on adding a HOB when fish get larger. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks!

How about:

2 oscars
7 Clown Loaches
4 Honduran Red Points
5 Bristle Nose Plecos

Thanks for your input JML, but I'm not sure if I want pairs, and not a big fan of plecos(more waste than they clean). IMO

Bristle nose are very good cleaners, only maxing out at about 5" and don't produce nearly as much waste as you'd think.

I like the Oscar in there, maybe a school of silver dollars and a 4 line pim cat. This would give a nice Amazon feel.

Just some advice with the filtration, add another cascade 1500 if you do go big fish/cichlid stocking. I run two in my 120g and maintenance is a breeze.

1 Oscar
1 Severum (Green, Gold, Red, or Rotkeil)
4 Silver Dollars
2 Bristlenose

Build a DIY wet/dry filter for your tank...........As far as fish go, 2-3 Oscars and a centerpeice Amazon Mother plant...............

+1 on the severum, i have mostly bottom feeders with my o's because if anything comes to the top, like my brown knife, they love to chase off.

What media do you run in your cascade 1500s'?

Not to derail your post op. I have a tiger Oscar aprox 10" I'd donate to your tank if your interested. He is in good health, no hole in head, a little beat up... I'd like to rehome for free because he is fighting with a channel cat for dominance in their current tank. I live in Dayton. Let me know..
