I recenlty setup a 180G aquarium, 6x2x2. I was planning to stock a pair of Jags that i had but now i'm unsure;

After looking around i have found a place that stocks 'Red Line Jag' from Don Conkel, does anyone have these or even better pics of them? They also have pairs of 'Red' Motaguensis are these much different to the normal colored ones?

What i wanted was a breeding pair of cichlids, i'd be happy with just 2 big fish in the setup but happier if i could keep a few more. What do people think i can get away with, anyone keep multiples of female jags toegther with one male or is that asking for trouble.

Went to my a store today and picked a pair of jags.

That's the male he measured just over 12 inches.

The female was a bit smaller 10 inches.

I put them into the tank together, they both seem laid back if anything the female is bossing the male around.

Currently digging up part of the tank under a log. I was going to by a dish to put under the log tomorrow so they have something to clean and stop the sand sliding back to were they dag.

asking for trouble, females are mean enough, males are worse. if you can get a breading pair that's great, but the male may flip and kill the female, esp if she is not ready to drop eggs and he is.

they look great.maybe get 3 large SD for them to keep busy,will possibly help them bond,i like the look of them.if not SD get another good size schooler.

Yeah was thinking of picking up some SD with them. But these are the fish fish in the tank and i did not want to push it, the male is a bit skinny atm but i hope it will be easy to fatten him up a bit. Are there many alternatives to silver dollars?

i think filament,lemon,or T-barbs would be fast enough.the problem might be finding them large enough.tinfoils would work but they get huge eventually.
