So, I just combined my smaller tanks into a 180g. I'm selling all of the smaller tanks except a 50g tall (36L x 15W x 22H). I want something interesting, but like to keep it to FW or brackish. I'm thinking about maybe having the tank to just one fish. Any suggestions on what I could keep in there?

Get Dwarf Cichlids they are pretty entertaining and they might just breed in your tank! I would suggest getting a shoal of Keyhole Cichlids or Laetacara Dorsiger or a Blue Ram or a Bolivian Ram. These are the more common Dwarf Cichlids. Cockatoo Cichlids are one of the most Beautiful Dwarfs of them all yet they are rare to fine depending on where you are located at. Good luck!

maybe a piranha but if it was me i would get angelfish in a tank like that...maybe altums?

Thanks for the replies. I forgot to mention my 180 is full of Cichlids, so I may stray away from Cichlids for the 50. I kind of like the idea for a puffer though. Whats the maximum size puffer I could entertain?

Get yourself some bichirs. ;)

Polypterus senegalus, delhezi, any of the palmas complex, retropinnis... All of those would work and look pretty sweet.

Also, because bichirs mostly stay towards the bottom, you could get some upper level swimmers too...

I thought bichirs needed 48" tanks? Otherwise it sounds cool.

How about a Gulper Cat, Red High-Fin Wolf Fish, or a Black Ghost Knife...that'll last it for awhile.
