Empty 650. Hmmmm...what to do?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What about a tank packed with quality monster goldfish ? At that size tank, they may be even be able to breed . Cheap, needs to heater and not a wallet buster like the other fish mentioned. No feeder goldfish though... nice ones like ranchus.

I just received a phone call from R&L carriers. I completely spaced out that I had 2 more tanks coming in. On top of repopulating the 650, I also have a 150 and 250gal arriving tomorrow afternoon. OH!! What to do?!! What to do?!

OOPS!! BTW, I also have a semi-square 460gal with center drain coming in next week or the week after. (yet another Alzheimer's moment).

Most people run out of tank space but in your case you are running out of fish.
May seem boring but what about native fish.

That's a possibility. But, finding large natives that can tolerate a constant 82F is the hard part.

I wish I had your problem.

What to do with a 650?????? kinda keeps me from posting, what to do with my spare 10 gallon.

3 massive tanks to work with.... makes me sad. the squareish tank could be for your rays. wide enough to accomadate them.

Indoor all-glass japanese koi pond.

I'd start off with a nice big Budda statue for the centerpiece of the tank and throw a couple of decorative jars on either size and plant water bamboo in them. That will protect the bamboo from the carp and reduce the distance between the lights and the plants. A few more asian themed pieces of decor and some large river pebbles would look great.

For your main flock go with half a dozen Shubunkin and half a dozen Sarasa Comets. Then pick out a few Butterfly Koi to act as your centerpiece. Careful not to overstock. The recommended minimum pond size for Koi is 1,000 gallons. Of course with your filtration....

Hell throw in a Giant Betta for good measure.

PS I also like the Brackish idea. Archers are awesome fish. Something you could do there is lower the water level and throw in a couple of turtle docks.
