hey guys i just recently upgraded to a 125 and i left my 36 gallon set up. its only 25 percent empty, no equipment whatsoever on it. no heaters or filters. only gravel and water. and today i turned the light on it and noticed a white film on the surface and a bunch of fry swimming around. its either the serpae tetras or the pristella tetras. whats the white film?? i have no clue whats going on lol i didnt even want to breed them.

White film?I would guess a snail's eggs sack.........But idf there is fry swimming around, the spawn would normally not be inside a "white film," but on the gravel saving energy...........After the egg sacks have been soaked up, usually within 5-7 days, the fry become free swimming...

yeah it was sitting like this for a few days. there was swimming fry in the tank. im cleaning it out now lol i probably should have drained the tank when i switched the fish over lol and there wernt any snails in the tank...

i got one on my phone to show the guy at my lfs. but i was going to take the tank down anyway, so i just got done draining it. i figured its better than letting them sit there and starve cause theres no way im in for raising a bunch of fry lol not for me. but it was a layer of white slime at the surface. and the fry were all sitting in it. some were down swimming.

So you have fry what a pleasant surprise.
