empty tanks

i myself view the bare-bottom tank as "sterile", something out of a lab or something.... yes, i do understand about the ease of maintenance with such...

part of my approach is that i have yet to see a lake, river, stream etc or any photos of such showing any with a bare bottom....

hey i dont believe its off topic, weekly or bi weekly maintenance is not always a must
bare bottom or not there are different environments ur just answering without asking the right questions yes weekly h20 changes are better but not a must say for my 120 gal. w/ 1 1' electric eel which likes slightly staggnant h20
ok I see your point but the eel is 1'' now (not 100% sure of total fullgrow size) but what happen when said eel becomes 8-9'' or greater in slightly staggnant water. key word is slightly staggnant which will be totaly staggnant if left unmaintained in my opinoin this is harded to do then keepin it idea lets say for cichlid's as an example. slightly staggnant water and ammonia spell DOOM! to me ,don't get me wrong i'm not trying to get on your case or twink1 just arguing my point .... by the way is this eel salt water as I have never heard of an electric eel in freashwater not to say your lying but you never stated it..

I ve had my tank set up for like three months and it takes alot of work to keep it up. So im trying an experiment with gravel i took it all out. still left in some decore but going to try no gravel to trap waste. I was wondering how many ppl have their tanks like this?

Howdy,

no personal offense intended, but if you're too lazy for this hobby then take down the tanks completely (without gravel you're already half-way there) and watch tv instead.
