theres only one sturgeon species in lake Michigan what else could they be ;). During the last steelhead season (the winter run) I snaged several fish that there was no stopping almost spooling me. Theres only two things they could be sturgeon runnig to spawn the next spring, or giant flathead catfish. As fast as these fish ran theres almost no doubt that they were sturgeon. Maybe next year ill be lucky enough to land one.
Ok kid, next time you ramp about how well your fishery is doing specify which lake you live by, or where you live please.;) Good for you guys and Lake Michigan, in Lake Erie they are still very rare to catch. I believe this is the first caught in PA in my lifetime. Last one that was even sighted is a monster dead one that washed up on our beach along with 1,000's of dead mudpuppy and monster channel cats, during the Botulism outbreak of 01.

My bad theres a little thing under my name that says Michigan, but theres many lakes conected to MI. As the salmon decline others are taking over Walleye, smallmouth bass, steelhead, catfish, drum, sturgeon, and lake trout are all being caught more and more each year.
