If the government keeps rolling back anti-pollution laws on water quality, it won't matter if we are allowed 50 gallons, or 1 million, most of it will be toxic for we humans, and for our fish.
Where I lived in Wisconsin, the rules are now changed to allow dumping of mine waste, and that from other companies into pristine waters. Soon a next water change, may be the last.
Although technology can easily remove some dangerous by-product like chlorine or microbes, the capacity is not there for some of the worst case non-organic or made made waste scenarios.

its sad we are still in denial about humans effect on the planet
There is a delicate balance that the human race should try and be a part of

There will be a point of no turning back when too much damage is done to that balance and all we are doing is trying to slow the process of imbalance

Maybe we are already there

and no, I am not religious or a hippy
Get god man.

When things go south , people will probably get more nasty, only the strong, lucky, and smart have any chance of surviving, history mostly teaches us that people don't learn from history, they simply repeat it over and over, worse each time, as everything is writ in blood and misery, yet how do people respond to one who warns them?

Usually either:

"Whatever you crazy loon, I'm gonna go enjoy myself now and heed nothing"

Or
"That will never happen"

Just saw some news that the endangered species act might get eliminated or changed.. I'm not sure what this could mean for the hobby.. what's everyone think ???

LOL

Nobody is going to repeal the Endangered Species Act. You mistook propaganda for news.

Please do the following: Make a list of the "news" stories you see. Make a list of what is supposed to happen over the next month as a result of those stories. Wait a month then research them. Go back to the original stories online; I bet they are no longer there or have been massively edited. Research what really happened. Did we repeal the ESA? Did we suffer massively in a trade war? Did war break out in Korea? Did POTUS resign? Did a.commet destroy the Earth? I bet almost none of what you document as news stories turns out to be correct a month later.

If anyone does reform the Endangered Species Act, it will take years. Government moves very slowly. Never make plans based on future action from a government.

In the end it's all about money .. I'm positive people wouldn't stand by while they eliminated such an act. I can see them trying to change it or make a new one with changed criteria so they can profit from something ..

Let me begin: I went to CNN (com) and the lead story is: "US economy grows at fastest rate since 2014. Will it last?" (I can not post a darn link!)

They say, in part:

Economists are generally predicting slower growth in the second half of the year, though, as the effects of the tax cut wear off and rising interest rates depress consumer spending. Economists also expect slower growth in 2019 and 2020.

"In one line: Looks great; won't last," wrote Ian Shepherdson, chief economist at Pantheon Macroeconomics. "If you borrow enough money from your grandchildren and throw it at the economy, it will grow faster, for a while."

Already announced tariffs are forecast to be only a slight drag on economic growth, unless more are imposed. And it seems that corporate executives are treading carefully, as surveys of business confidence and hiring expectations begin to flag.

Let's meet back here and see if they were right. I expect that at least 2/3 of their predictions are wrong.

I also predict that in a month the past numbers they gave are revised.

Finally, I predict that in a month they (CNN) will deny ever having run this story.

I'll see everyone on August 27.
