Ive had problem feeding my endli bichir--he is about 7-8" and seems to have trouble swallowing pieces of smelt. Ive had him for about 1 month now. Sometimes even when the pieces is small enough he constantly re-spit it out in and out until finally he just ignores it. What to do?

Is the smelt defrosted, or fresh? If it's defrosted, how are you doing so?

Have you tried alternatives such as shrimp?

How often do you feed it?
how much has it been eating ?
when did the problem begin?-Anne

It was one of neo's old endlis, about 8" now. Supposed to be feeding on pellets. I only noticed this recently during the past week but he hasnt been eating much at all. All the smelt are defrosted and cut into different sizes, both big and tiny, and it just spits them all out after chewing them for a long while. I feed it once a day.

I use forceps to feed it because it is a slow feeder in a tank of aggressive feeders. Ive tried some shrimp pellets but he does the same thing. Seems to have a lot of problem swallowing the food.

skip a cpl days see if it sparks it appetite also try giving it pellets again-Anne
