Wow! I love that plat. Perfect shape too. Most plat endli I've seen are all deformed with a very high price. Not worth buying, but that one you have, I'll buy that one.
Thanks...it's actually for sale, $2000 :)

Thanks everyone :D

Small polypterus have external gills, some keep them until nearly a foot, usually they'll be gone completely by 8"

ooo... how come my senegal bichir never had those?

You just miss it when it was about less than an inch long. All bichirs will have an external gills when they first hatch on the egg. The external gills help them to breath air as their lungs are not well develop yet. As the lungs start to develop, the external gills start to disappear. It's usually the weeksii and pbb that will have it's external gills attached even it will get up to 15-20 inches. Sene, polli, teugelsi, palmas, beuttikoferi, del, moke, retro and the ropefish will lost the external gills during at less than an inch to 3 inches, while ornate, endli, ansorgii, cong and lap will lost it at around 3-6 inches some even at 10-12 inches.

They're tiny still...lol Check out my other threads for some monster endlis :D
Pellets, shrimp, tilapia etc
Well if those are tiny what do you think of the size of my 3 inchers:D?...
Mine are eating shrimp and BW's. I fed them tilapia a while ago when I first started feeding "grocery store" food, but have been sticking it with the shrimp more lately. I ran out of shrimp last night so I'll go get some more shrimp and maybe talapia again today.
