Endli jump out.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Heard a loud thump at 3:30am. Wife said, what was that? I said, neighbors upstairs. Fast forward to 10:00am, found a dried out lap on my rug. Was about to put it in the freezer when I noticed it twitched. Mind you the lap felt dry to the touch. Put it in a bin, prime, air stone, 15 minutes later, it's breathing/gill movement!! Over 6.5 hours out of the water bro. Simply amazing. Now it did have its consequences, part of its body rotted due to the lack of oxygen while it was out. A large fuzzy white quarter size patch developed on its body. Within two days, the patch rotted off and you could see the intense red bloody flesh & what seemed to be the spine or some kind of cartilage. I put it in a quarantine tank, no feeding, antibiotics, & aquarium salt. Still recuperating after one month. Very hardy.

wow ! my teugelsi jumped out in the night too. Next morning was covered in ants, was still alive though. Placed it in a quarantine tank and went to work...came back to a dead one =/

The last couple of days the endli health has gone down hill. He was fine, his body gotten stiff. The only thing he can move is it pectoral fins he just lay on the bottom in the same spot. it doesn't look good. Dammit, I'm ready hope he pass soon instead of suffering like this.

That's a shame. Sorry to hear that. I had it happen to me with a really nice ornate. I couldn't believe it had gotten through my cover.

Thanks, I just hope I can replace the endlicheri with the same patterns

i had a 7" piranha jump out of my tank about 3 years ago i still have never found him. no one in my family has found him ether and he was the only fish in the tank so nothing ate him in the tank.
i think the dog ate him...

I find this funny.. lol the first thing that went in my mind is "maybe the fish got abducted by aliens". good thing you have a dog to blame. lol

WTF, he's is still holding on. Poor thing just will not die, it still paralyze and lay mostly in the same spot. It not eating, how is this still alive.

If it makes you feel any better, the following two pics were recently taken. This is my lap that jumped out & was out of the tank for 6+ hours. It was kept by itself, some salt (1 tablespoon of aquarium salt per 5 gall of water), two treatments of anit biotics (triple sulfa), AND NO EATING FOR ALMOST 2 MONTHS!! About 30% of its flesh grew back, so you can imagine how horrible it looked 2 months ago.

At this point, it depends on how strong you are mentally. I thought about putting it to sleep with clove oil & vodka many times -- especially knowing it may not make it at the end. It was difficult to deprive it of food for sooooo long. In the end, it survived & is now eating along with other bichirs. I hope your endli pulls through. If it hasn't died, it probably wants to live some more. BEST of luck brother.
