So a 36" depth would be best vs a 24"?Wider would be better. They recommend 1.5xwidth and 4x length this is vs the fishes max length.

OK cool. A bigger tank is definitely in the future, but not in our current house.It would take a while for them to outgrow your 18inch wide tank. You have plenty of time. To put it in yrs i wouldnt be able to guess. Depends on genetics, possibly sex and im sure other things. They slow down allot for me once they hit that 12 to 14 inch range.
Yeah 0 for trite and ammonia. Nitrate is 15ppm.Post pics.
If they are still earing i wouldnt worry. When you say water tests fine do you mean 0 for ammonia and nitrite ?
