In short time it can be done but the longer they stay in bare bottom tank it will happen. A year or two maybe. Juvenile are not prone to it, but large adult are.

You can always add just a few substrates or feed them with a lot of meaty foods to prevent it. My 18" laps, 18 endli and 12" delhezi have these kind of problem before. They were still eating like a pig and still doing fine but looking at their flat belly was just odd.
