Eneyone on hear keep Croc monitors!(varanus salvadorii) as im thinking of makeing it my next project!
i know they are propper nastey! as my friend had 1 bite through a welding glove into his hand" and gave him 16 stitches! :D

I know a few people that keep them. Room size enclosure with several windows and possible temporary outdoor space is a must. Lots of space and enrichment are key to have your lizard relaxed, otherwise they can go very agressive if mentally frustrated. These guys aparently even wait for people to enter their enclosure to atack them.
I know they are fascinating (I would rater have a million times one of these then some hot snakes) but I would recomend you do all keeping and maintenance from outside the enclosure for safety reasons.
They are really owesame :)

I also know a couple of guys with tnem. They ambush the owner, no kidding.....

Ambush there owner! guess this guy should have worn a hard hat

where do these guys come from! whot region! Papua new guinea!
How tame are captive bread compared to wild court lizards!
bean told alot of lizards are comeing from asian farms! and are normally in really bad condishion! full of internal parasites!

I've delt with many croc monitors.. all were big and nasty, other than a few hatchling sized animals that came through. I had worked for a store 12 years ago that imported several monitors on a regular basis. In fact all our croc monitors came from the infamous Anson Wong. The same list we'd order croc monitors from, had komodo dragons for sale too.

Edit: In responce to those pictures, you'd have to be pretty stupid to be bit in the head by one of these monitors. They have the same type of feeding responce like any other monitor species.

Think long and hard, Jonny.
16 stiches, hahahahahaha.
Wait until they get around 8 feet long, at optimal temperature, whatever they get a hold of, there definatly going to take it with them.

ok thanks! Thinking of my spaire room for maybe a nice setup! id like a pair to try and bread! wonder if there is alot of fighting among male and female in this species!
Whot money are these fetching these days! there was 1 for sale in england! it was going for £1000 wich is alot cheeper than few years back!

Croc Monitors aren't aggressive animals......They are actually quite shy unless you back them in a corner......More intelligent than your average human......They learn your routines, how you do and what you do, and will use it to their advantage......

THEY ARE NOT FOR 99% OF THE REPTILE KEEPING PUBLIC!!!!!!!

They need very large enclosures, or else you will end up bloody......These animals dont like being watched, nor do they like being poked or prodded.......Females are the dominant animals, and they will kill a Male if they aren't happy with their captive conditions.......

Probably the most socially complex Varanid available to the public, and to be quite honest, you will probably fail at keeping them, let alone breeding them......That's just the sad truth about it....Even the guys that have understood Varanids to the point of having consistant success have had problems with Crocs.......

Don't get me wrong, it's notable that your trying to breed them, but how are you going to let a Female nest in a spare room? If you do end up with a gravid Female, you'll kill her off right there......

There are so many aspects of keeping a socially complex, large, potentially dangerous Lizard.....If you want a Monitor that will react and stimulate, get an Argus or anything in the Argus clan.......They pale in comparison to the complexities of a Croc Monitor, and are really hard to kill.......

I wouldn't try to breed them, to be honest. They are not an animal a lot of people can look after, you may end up having to sell them cheap to get rid of them (or be stuck looking after a lot of young ones), and essentially putting a lot of dangerous animals on the market.
