Engagement ring though airport security

So i'm going to key west and miami in a few weeks and the plan is to propose to my girlfriend somewhere down there. Does anyone have experience with a ring through airport security? I have looked into a bit and have the following ideas...

-keep it in my pocket through security, won't set off alarm?
-if its set off alarm hopefully my gf will be preoccupied and i can discretely show it to the security person?
-put it in my bag in the case or an envelope labeled "engagement ring"
-put it in my bag unlabeled...TSA screeners aren't always nice
-put it on my keychain, make sure my gf goes through security first
-propose in line

I suppose i can call the airline and try to get a straight answer that way.

When smuggling theres always that one option...................

put it in your carry on bag and send that through the scanner it wont go off for that you can have metal items as long as its not scissors. (my scissors got taken away). if you want to be even safer put it in your luggage. I took my pocket knife to peru and back in my luggage. good luck man if the alarm goes off just propose in line lol it will be memorable.

Put it in your wallet and when you go thru place wallets and keys etc thru xray machine, Then take it out and put back in box once your thru.

Makes sense to just leave it in my bag as metal is allowed. Not checking any bags though just carry on. And thanks!

I like this idea, as i'm sure they see rings all day with keys and wallets etc.

Hah...i don't know how much i can rely on security they are never friendly.

send it to your hotel via overnight express with your name so that when you get there, the hotel will have it at the front desk and you don't have to take the risk at the airport.

i dont think a ring would set the alram off.

I think this is the best idea. I wouldn't take the risk of trying to sneak it through. And if you put it in your luggage, if they see it they might steal it. You never know, people are messed up
