ENGLISHTOWN DRAG RACE WEEKEND( MEGA UBER PICS)

Went to Englishtown, NJ to Old Bridge raceway... Just want to pay respect to the Kalitta family and wish them luck in the future and say Scott may lay in peace now. Racing has lost a true racing hero and has suffered a great loss. I was there this weekend for the Supernationals where he died on Saturday. I will post 16 pics tonight and the 32 more tomorrow and the 6 or 7 clips.

So whoever is a drag race fan lets talk!!

For those who haven't seen a top fuel car going down the track it is SOOO loud it doesn't even sound like a car when it's idling it sounds like static. When they launch the ground shakes like you wouldn't believe and there is soooo much vibration it distorts your vision until they get about 6/8 of the 1/4 mile down the track which only takes about 4.2 seconds at a good 310 MPH. I go to OLD bridge every june and august to go and see the races. every time is a blast it's about 100 air temp track temp a good 140 no wind ALL sun and no shade but that doesn't bother you when your a race fan! MAN I LOVE TOP FUEL!!

Must be I wouldn't stand on that track with both my legs. If a car ever blew while lauching right next to all those people someone is getting hurt.

Yeah my father used to Race his 66 chevelle there and his 71 chevelle. The 66 had a 502 holley super charger 850 high lift roller cams etc the works basically and used to get mid to slight high 9's. the 71 did the 1/4 in about 10.5 seconds. Last time he raced there though the 66 chevelle fell off the trailer on the George Washington bridge. Belt harness snapped. The car blew a chunk out of the top of the piston and lost cylinders on the same day too.
My 1984 Berlinetta is going on that track in a year or so. Running a 427 LS1.

There's nothing comparible to the intestinal shake of a top fuel run, especially when they BOTH make it down the track. I go to Heartland Park (Topeka) each year. Unfortunately, missed this year. It really sucked to hear about Scott Kalitta. He was a champ. What sucks the most is the wife and 2 daughters (I think) left behind. 2 lost in 2 years. I found it strange the generic reasoning given for the explosion--engine malfunction. YOU THINK?! What else would it be, a tubing malfunction? Anyway, if you haven't been, you need to go. You'll be hooked!

that had to be a fun experience on the GW bridge..... sounds like some awesome cars.... i usually raced @ atco since its closer to me or the county in maryland.... never got to go down the track at englishtown

You mean super street eliminator? Anyways was he there because I saw and s-10 there and I actually have a picture of it. Is it a older bodied s-10? If it is DAMNNNN definately top 5 fastest Super street cars. I did see a prostock s-10 but it was white with a orange zig zag in the middle with purple on top.
