I believe your current setup is fine as long as you do frequent water changes. Rays are messy eaters. I do 30% water changes every 3 days and my tank seems to be doing really well my ammonia ph nitrate are perfect. Ideally you might want to setup a drip into your tank as that would make it easier for you. I know The king Of DIY Urajoey has a video explaining the benefits and how to set it up.
