Fishie madness is upon me... I just picked up a 180g saltwater setup that I am going to convert to freshwater. It came with a 30g sump and a fluval 405 canister. I WAS thinking about adding 2 Emperor 400's to the mix. I am definitly going to have 2 oscars but I am not sure what else to put in there... I want the O's to be the focus. Are the Emps overkill.

I keep an fx5, 405 and two xp3s on my 180 and i feel its under doing it. Thats just me personally.

Thats enough filtration for a 1000gal tank... :headbang2 niceeee

A correctly built 30gal sump can work wonders. With that the 405 and 1 emperor should be ample filtration. A second one certainly couldnt hurt though.

Throw an FX5 on there, keep the sump and run that too. Or keep the saltwater setup and give it a shot! Might be fun...

LOL saltwater, the dark side, heh.

Personally, I think that you can never over-filter O's! And besides, we both know that at some point you're going to want something else/more in there, so may as well have as much as you can reasonably afford. My mantra has been to overfilter, overfilter, overfilter for the health of the inhabitants as well as for my sanity (With the amount of tanks I have, I don't like daily water change schedules!) :)

:grinno:
There are plenty of FW species that can hurt you.

Shoulda accepted that risk before you got a big predatory fish with poisonous spines sticking out of its back!

How was it? Hurt much?
