I just found a new LFS today in the greensboro area so i'm not as upset about losing this one! I would love to see someone buy it, but after talking to the people working there, I'm not so sure thats going to happen....

Well new to me, Friendly Pets, in Old Friendly Center, on Friendly Ave. haha. I went in there to just look around and found that the back room has hundreds of tanks and the fish look really good. Mainly fresh, maybe 10 salt tanks. Prices seemed reasonable, much lower than aquamains has ever been, and they look much healthier than the fish @ aquamains too!

I grew up going to the friendly store, they dont have as wide of variety of fish. Sales assosiets arnt as educated either they sold my neighbor an oscar and pleco saying they would be fine in a 20 gal for life

I didn't really interact much with the staff there, I was just looking around on my own. Their selection now is much higher than anywhere I found locally. Up until I found the Friendly store, I've been going to petsmart because their fish have been healthier than the fish at Aquamains, and reasonably priced. It's hard for me to justify buying a more expensive fish from a place with several tanks that I consider unhealthy. Price isn't an issue when it comes to healthy fish, but the petsmart fish were just plain healthier, no dead fish in the tanks, clean tanks, and the fish just looked all around healthier.

At the friendly store I found healthy fish and a pretty broad selection. I'll certainly go to the friendly store a few more times to check out the fish and see how they look before I consider buying any, but so far, they seem to be the front runner from what I've seen since I've been here.

Well, Looks like Aquamain's is staying open. I just talked to a few associates there today. They said that the owner of the strip mall that the store is in, is going to buy and continue to run the store. The owner of the building believes that it will be more beneficial to keep the store there, then to try to lease out an empty store during a recession.

So look's like the store's here to stay, at least for the time being!
