wow koop171 your post has nearly changed my life!!!
Props the the mbu puffer, the tiger fish, and the rhom! all of them are wicked awesome actually.
Ok so this begs the question, I`m in Toronto Canada... a) how do I get any of them and b) are any suitable for 125 gallons (doubtful lol).
WOW dude that's so awesome, you've opened my eyes to the potentials of unique aquarium fish!
A rhom is your best bet in a 125 for life. but the thing you will run into is that they are hard to find very large and harder to ship large thus commanding a hefty price. (think 12'+ for $300+U.S. minus shipping if needed) and they grow slow around 8-10" the first year and 1" per year after that. And they will be happier in a 180 for life.
there are species of tiger that can stay in a 125 for life but they are not normally seen in the hobby. the two that you will see the most are very large. VATF will get to 3' in the wild and GATF will do6' in the wild. BUT they grow SLOW I have had 5 GATF and currently have 1 and he's less then.5" a month. and know someone who has one that's 15"+ and it's 3 years old.
If you want something that will stay in a 125 for life assuming it's a standar 72"x18"x21" you need to think of something that will top out around 16-18"
there for you can look into some of the smaller species of Peacock bass like the kelbri
