Epsom vs aquarium salt

I see people here talking about using both. I've used aquarium salt before, and read here that non-iodized salt was acceptable to use too. And now I've read about using Epsom salt.
(Nothing wrong with my tank right now, just curious.)

Are they all used for same things? Is whole tank treated with epsom salt? Is the epsom safe for all fish??

its safe, but same rules apply as other salts. Half doses if scaleless fish are present. Epsom salts however are great for several other applications, such as deworming and also helping with fish who are blocked up. I keep a small amount of epsom salts in all my tank water at most times. Its also great if a fish has an injury just like other salts, but epsom salts will help reduce swelling as well.
 
Magnesium sulphate aka epsom salt is an inorganic salt, and it does NOT have a negative affect on scaleless fish. It is also NOT a dewormer, but it can be effective for treating some internal pathogens such as Spironucleus vortens aka hexamita. It's also used as a purgitive agent for constipated fish, and is sometimes effective at helping heal external anal prolapses in fish.

My mistake, I was told it was still better to half the amounts for scaleless fish. The deworming part...I'm not even going to try and argue with you RD you know more than 99.9% of this site haha, I just know I've seen it used in other applications other than aquatic for getting rid of internal parasites.
 
Does epsom salt work with Ich treatments or is that just aquarium salt?
 
epsom salt can act as a purgitive agent, so it can help purge worms out of a fishes system, but it is in no way a dewormer. If someone is saying that it acts as a dewormer, or somehow kills any types of aquatic worms found in fish, they are mistaken.
 
Epsom salt is magnesium, not sodium, and no it does not have any affect on ich.
