Equipment Upgrades VS Fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i feel the same way. pretty hard decisions. lol

I tend to do upgrades first because that is the expensive part.

the fish are cheap by comparison.

get the nice upgrades out of the way first.

however, if I happen to browse the LFS and see something nice, I buy it.

thank god for VISA! :headbang2

more than once I have passed up nice fish for money reasons, only to regret it because its a year or something before I see those same nice fish again..

I have learned that when you see something nice fish wise, don't wait. buy it.

other wise you will regret not getting it when you had the chance because you may not see it again in your area for a long time...

^ EXACTLY ^

Spend the money on DIY, then worry about fish!

if you are buying fancy arowana, then no lol

but I was thinking the other day about the 36" double strip light (Allglass brand) that I am buying for my new 50g breeder tank. its $150.

for that price I can buy:

4 nice juvenile discus
a whole school of nice redhooks,
a cart full of groceries..

or 1 damn strip light for my fish tank LOL

but its going to be so worth it:headbang2

I wish it were higher. that would mean that the LFS's in my area actually get some nice fish in for a change LOL

lately there hasn't really been anything good around the GTA..

Equipment gets the better part of my fish money.
I would have a hard time convincing myself to spend over $100.00 on a fish.
However, when it comes to upgrades, $100.00 is just a warm up.
At the moment though, I have money for neither, too many other irons in the fire.
It is summer after all. lol

It's tough...when I don't spend money on the hobby, whether it be fish or equipemnt, I feel like something's wrong, lol.

^ Spoken like a true MFKer

;o)

If the tank needs the upgrade or needs more equipment (like growing out fish in a large tank.. you start with one canister but eventually you have to add to the filtration) then I will go with the equip upgrade over the fish.

Only time I didnt do an upgrade and bought critters instead was with my salt tank... I need to upgrade my overflow box but it's $80 (and my current one still works...just... annoying)... I need to add to my cleaner crew also.... that was $10.... needless to say I went with the cleaner crew... I broke =]
