good luck, i've owned an MK4, there nice but come with the beefed up price do to fast and furious teenagers and younger folk.
How old are you? even if you can find one expect your insurance to be through the roof if your under mid 20's.
You'll have to look for insurance theft recoved cars, all will have something wrong with them, almost always major, but you get what you pay for.
the best deal i ever saw was a 97TT stolen and recoved by insurance company, the joy rider crashed the front end in good, but could have be repaired for 5-8k i estimated. price was $1900 (sold before i got to it)
I saw a good one that was smashed with a hammer (lots of dents) angry wife i heard, it was 5 or 6.
