ery sp peru's facts? (wolf fish)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
looks like a nice peru but what fish is above it? Pretty sure a polypterus of some sort and it is hot.

polypterus teugelsi

nice peru!

Lix is probably right, but I can see traits of Ery. Kessleri as well as Sp Peru. I don't think that I've seen Sp. Peru with such a well defined ocellate; more so on Kessleri and Sp. Tahuayo. I have never kept these species though, so I could be mistaken. It should be more obvious once it's settled in.

thanks for the ID :D

Any photos? I've never noticed a metallic blue on their faces, but I've never kept Ery. Sp Peru.

If you compare my regular Ery. Ery. (http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/f...688-Bottles-Red-Wolf-(Erythrinus-Erythrinus-)) and IndyTexys' awesome Ery. Sp Peru (http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?568038-Rainbow-wolf-fish-group-pics), you can see that the coloration is a bit different. The Ery. Sp Peru markings are more on the bottom of the fish and towards the tail, and Ery. Ery. markings are more in the central. There are some other slight differences, but for me, this is the easiest way to tell the two species apart.

Check out this pic... I have noticed that Ery. sp. peru do have a metallic sheen around their gill plates....
