I have a Erythrinus K. in a 40 breeder by his/her self I was wondering if there were any possible tank mates that might be ok with my wolf for life, I know I do not have the largest tank but I was hoping I could maybe get one more in there, I have a pictus cat that is close to the same size in my community could I possible put him with the would or would this be asking for too much trouble?

you can try some captive bred senegal bichirs. Depending on the wolf's personality, it could work pretty well.

from my experience, any tankmate with a red wolf should either ignored, or capable of escaping. my wolf is about 7 inches and will either bully or kill anything similarly sized. i put a 9 inch gar in the tank with him and after about a week the wolf decided to assert his dominance and kill the gar. he would also bully my similarly sized spotted cat. but he ignored my 6 inch needle nose gar.

Would those be happy in my tank for life i cant really upgrade where i live now

What's the footprint of the tank? If it's a 40 breeder than it'll be an OK size for 2 CB senegals which probability won't get to 8-10 inches.

nothing much you can put in a 40 gallon tank.

bichirs would always love a companion. i'm assuming a 40 breeder is 36x18?

I Keep a few fish my 4 Ery. Sp. Peru.... I keep a 7-8" Tiger Botia, 8" Senegal Bicher ( which has had his tail chewed pretty severly on on more than one occasion ), a 5" Royal Pleco, a 6" common Pleco ( The plecos Do NOT suck the wolves slime coats.. When the common pleco gets about 7-8" I remove it and replace it with another 2-3" one), 5" sun cat, and a very docile 4" Green terror.

In the past I have tried some other types of fish with them and recieved mixed results....
Large banded silver dollars.. Made the Wolves stay in hiding
4"Salvini-- Beat the wolves up
6" Tiger Oscar-- Made the wolves stay in Hiding
7" Pink Kisser-- Largest wolf seem like he was too interetsed i him so it was removed.
Convicts-- Seem to work well ( tried to use them as food but the wolves will not eat them)

I think some other good choices would be large/Med festivums they seem like they would be a good match. I have been looking for a group to try this out with mine.

I would go for a pair of WC mokes or WC palmas complex, one or 2 would do fine. I keep my ery ery in a 70 with a 13 inch ropefish, 7 1/2 inch ornate bichir, 6 1/2 inch palmas beutt., and soon to be 3 more bichirs (Black Volta endli, palmas palmas, palmas polli). Some nipping happens but the bichirs are tough enough for it. I would go to JA and snag a moke or palmas as it will take a long time before a senegal can be big enough to not be killed by the wolf, unless you can find a large one

I think I may end up holding off for a little, all the bichirs around here are like buffalo thought "way to small" that and the fact that any time I give hr live food (very very very rare) if there is too many she becomes stressed and doesn't really move around until she eventually gets them all.
