Erythrinus sp. Peru aggresion?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Have not tried to comm mine with other Erys, but it fares well with a variety of tankmates in a 180g. Moved him to the 90g, it still fares fine and doesn't bother anyone. Sometimes it takes a fish in dislike and will chase it whenever it passes by.

I do believe, however, they don't do well with other Erys, but haven't tried it.

Can be tried but will need a big tank. Lots of decor and space to allow to hide if needed. I've done it prior without issue. Other instances weren't able to commune also cause sex cannot be fully determined.

Worth a try but be prepared to separate in case.

+1. Definitly possible, need plenty of hiding areas, and I'd say no less than a 120 maybe bigger, one guy did it in a 150 I believe.

I was thinking about this and with golds, maybe having a fish dominant over all of them would help. It seems a lot of people who have tried to do it with golds and have failed haven't had a fish more dominant. But Qudoger oscars push his around, and the old member large curupira and I believe brycon or maybe the bass pushed his around. Just a thought.

Good friends!! Can be with medium cichlids (like jurupari, geopaghus, etc)? or maybe can red wolf fish to bite them?

I would say ok but the cichlids would need to be adult. Hiding place for the red wolf when needs to retreat.

Any aggressive cichlid I'd say no.

I've had mine with Geos and a Festae, but I don't know if I'd do it with a Festae and nothing else. Mine was kept in check by the Odoe and the Mala so he never picked on the Ery.

Goes would be fine. As said nothing to aggressive, ery species can be pushovers, don't take beatings or dish them out as well as hoplias species.
