I have one at home, got him at the end of October. He's 15 cm (6 inches) now and not agressive towards his tankmates (1 JD, 1 firemouth and 1 turtle). the tank has some roots for decoration and hiding, but his favourite sleeping place is near the basking cork bark for the turtle. He lies so close to the surface that sometimes his fin looks out. I guess he likes that the surface is covered with duckweed.

He eats everything except pellets. I tried frozen stuff like small fish, shrimps and mussels, no problem. He also likes to chase guppys, which I bought for him.

do you have any pics of your layout ? thanks

I attached 2 pics of him and his setup. The water is a bit murky because of the duckweed after changing the water an hour ago.

It is 120x40x40 cm, roughly 200 litres (50 gal)

Very nice wolfish. I had a few of them and they are pretty active and greedy, they like to gobble up shrimp pellets like no tommorow.

just wandering what is the different between Erythrinus sp. "Purple" as mentioned in the begining with Erythrinus Erythrinus?

Not one that I can see.

I have kept Erythrinus Erythrinus and they are absolutely alike, imho...

Mine is easily 8".

Apart from color sp. Peru is not as out going as ery. ery.
Ery. Ery will get a bit bigger at 10". Both can comm with other fish as long as they are to large to eat. I haven't tried to comm multiply sp. Peru but it is generally excepted that you can't comm multiple Ery. Ery's.

As an extra point for you guys in the US who fancy keeping a small snakehead. I have found the erythrynus group to be very similar as a fishkeeping experience to keeping some of the dwarf snakeheads.

I get it :)

is very agressive !!!
